Carbon Reduction Plan

We are committed to further reducing the negative effects of our operations on the environment, including through reducing emissions of carbon and other greenhouse gases, against the benchmark of emissions in 2015-19.

We have reviewed our operations and identified three main ways in which we can make measurable progress towards this goal in 2022 and beyond.

Switching electricity supply to a company which generates 100% renewable energy. This should reduce our carbon emissions from our energy supply by around 40%.

Substituting surface transport (rail and ferry) for airline flights where practical. This should reduce our carbon emissions from travel by around 20% compared to pre-2020 levels.

Continuing to run a significant proportion of our research online, which should reduce the energy and transport requirements for the delivery of focus groups and other research events by 60% compared to pre-2020 levels.

These targets will be reviewed by the Board as part of our Quality Assurance framework and we commit to publishing the outcomes of this Plan annually.
